Ian is married to Carol, has 2 children, 5 grandchildren, a dog and a pond full of goldfish. He enjoys watching sport, especially Gloucester rugby, and always has time for a kick about with his grandchildren in the park.
Ian’s working life started in engineering, completing his apprenticeship at Norville Optical Company before joining Dowty’s.
After five years at Dowty’s a family friend suggested he should take a position as an insurance agent working for the Co-operative Insurance Society (CIS). He started at the CIS in September 1991, arranging an array of insurance products including motor and home insurance, pensions, investments and life assurance.
Shortly after Axa’s purchase of the CIS advice business in 2011 Ian decided to leave. Martin, an ex-CIS colleague, asked Ian to bring his wealth of knowledge and experience to Town & Country.
Ian has been with Town & Country since the end of 2012 and enjoys the freedom that providing independent financial advice brings.
Reflecting on his current and previous adviser roles, Ian says
“There are many things I like about working at Town & Country. Firstly, I am able to provide my clients, and their families, with independent financial advice along with other services such as helping them with their Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
However, the biggest difference to other organisations is there are no ‘Sales targets’ at Town & Country. It’s all about the advice; not how much you can ‘sell’.”
